Classical Concert Acts in London – The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Hi again everybody and welcome to another blog of mine. Today, I will talk about The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra or RPO for short, the 'Nation's best loved Orchestra'.

Since its foundation by Sir Thomas Beecham back in 1946, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has established itself as one of the best musical acts around the United Kingdom and abroad as well. Its direction and leadership has been under the control of some of the world's best directors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Rudolf Kempe and André Previn. I personally think that with Daniele Gatti as their leader, who has been RPO's Music Director since 1996, RPO has flourished even more and its name has been spread further around the world. It has won the praises of audiences and critics alike.

Housed at Cadogan Hall, Sloane Square, London's newest concert venue, the RPO is delighted to announce that from the beginning of the 2009-2010 season, Charles Dutoit will be joining them as its Principal Conductor and Artistic Director. Daniele Gatti will continue serving as Conductor Laureate. I don't know if it is even possible but the combination of Dutoit and Gatti just might lift the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to even greater heights in the classical music world.

The RPO's recent performances have included many internationally acclaimed artists. Among the many are the Joyful Company of Singers and Tasmin Little. Their resident season is also complimented by frequent outstanding and noteworthy performances befitting the lush and grand Royal Albert Hall of London.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's concert schedule usually starts in the capital every season before embarking on an extensive and comprehensive nationwide tour to places such as Northampton, Wimbledon and Croydon. The Orchestra also plays to mass audiences in open-air concerts every summer across the country. If you have never been to one of these open-air concerts, then I suggest doing so at the earliest opportunity. It is simply an exhilarating experience, one to cherish for the rest of your life. Find out here about ssd drives and how they could help you.

As an international outfit, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra have performed in countless countries, gaining further recognition and widening their base and market in countries such as Egypt, the Vatican, Moscow and even Tiannamen Square in China.

On top of all this, the RPO also contributes to society by working on projects involving live music making with youth clubs, young homeless people, schools, probation service and families. This just proves the diversity of the RPO and the commitment they have to society.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra records for major recording companies. No less than an amazing 8 of its releases were on the charts last year. The Orchestra also has its own record label. The recordings reflect the RPO's versatility, with everything from releases of film classics, to popular orchestral and choral works, to hits from musicals.

The RPO's list of supportive critics includes The Sunday Times, The Times and The Daily Telegraph. What more can I say? If you haven't already, do go and experience for yourself their amazing performances and great music!
